How We Came to Own our Farm

We are Rett and Tim. Years ago I came across this property a couple of times... When my husband and I looked at it that night I realized I had been here before...
My husband (Timothy) and I were out looking at other properties and passed this by at 55 miles an hour on the way home. I said, "Its for sale!!" Tim said "No it's just that pasture land." I said "No.... it's the house also!! There's a huge sign at the corner!" We turned around that evening in February (2021) about 4:30 pm and went and looked.

As we looked around... I remembered!! I'd been here before a few times. I told Tim. "I've been here before..." He said, "You have?" Yes, I had been ~~ several years before, also a few years before that. I had wandered around wondering how it come be seemingly abandoned?
Tim said lets contact the realtor. He did, and we were there until long after dark that night. This property (Outside the small St. Tammany Parish town of Folsom, LA) had been sitting since 2005 since hurricane Katrina. It NEEDED TONS of work... NO ONE wanted to take it on as it needed SO MUCH!! THIS would be a HUGE project for anyone to take on much less US. Still, my husband would not look at other properties but thought we should get this one. I had found a four acre property in Franklinton in much better condition with several out buildings and a clear established two acre pasture that I felt we should check out before committing to this one... but he did not want to go see it... Thus, As of April 6th, 2021 we became the owners of this old farm!!
I hope we will be able to repair, update, and renovate this property... it will take soo much work and a great deal of money. This is a HUGE, HUGE project.
We are thankful for this magical fairytale property that is a REAL place!! A BEAUTIFUL Reality!! Restoring will it be a Dream come true for US!! It does need LOTS of work... but the beauty is Wonderful!!

On HGTV (Fixer Upper) with JoJo and Chip they ask "Do you have the guts to take on a fixer upper?" "Do you have the guts to take on all the work involved?" WELL~~We looked at this with our hearts... I'm not sure our guts ever got involved... smile. I think it was just HEARTS!! So now with this heart dream we will accomplish what has not been accomplished before... We will restore this lovely farm to it's former GLORY!! Keeping in mind (and hearts) that it's a BLESSING... to US. Everything and Everyone will help US. Teddy Roosevelt said once... (a favorite quote of mine) "Believe you CAN, and YOU ARE HALFWAY THERE!!"
I just believe We will be Blessed All the Way with restoring this magical majestic old farm!!
When I was there one night a few weeks ago (Autumn 2021) and it was slightly cool (in the 60's). There was at least a thousand fireflies lighting up the dark cool night. It was one of the most amazing things to see!! The colors were unbelievable, there were reds, blues, yellows, and greens. I'd NEVER seen that many variations of firefly colors. I tried to recreate what I'd seen by describing it to Timothy... I told him I felt as if I had stepped into a beautiful fairytale...as if I was welcomed by Nature herself, honoring Our decision to purchase this place!! I was awed and honored!
