Heartache ~ Losing Our Old Barn

On November 19th, 2021 We lost our Large Old Barn to a raving fire.  This Old Barn looked New in photos we found from the early 1950's.  We aren't sure what year it was built but we guess it to have been between 1945 to 1950.  We left Our Farm about 2:15 pm and by 4:34 four different fire departments were on scene attempting to control the blazing fire.  They did not get it completely extinguished until after 8:30 that night.  Flames kept reigniting after they were extinguished.  A neighbor texted me about 4:45pm. and I made it to the farm by 5:25pm.  The Barn was OLD and it was large... approximately 36 feet wide x 64 feet long and probably 22 feet tall at loft peak. The double walls were full of leaves, rat, bird and squirrel nest, hay and straw from all the years of being a barn.  Much of the wood was very dry and powdery. The loft floor was very powdery and needed replacing.  It was literally an inferno once it begin burning.  How sad to lose it though... I feel like we lost a piece of history.  I loved that old barn... and hoped for it to house my horse one day soon... along with Tim's cows, and goats.  Every time I think about it or see it's remains it's a heartache for me.  (Rett)
